How to use your Asda gift card online

You can spend your Asda gift card during the online checkout when you place an order through the Asda website. The process is quick and easy; you only need your 19-digit card number and PIN.

Using your gift card

When you’re ready to pay for your shopping, just follow these simple steps:

  • 1

Once you’ve added all of your items to your basket, proceed to the checkout.

  • 2

    Navigate to the payment section.

  • 3

Select the option to pay with a gift card.

  • 4

Enter your 19-digit gift card number.

  • 5

Enter the PIN from the back of the card.

  • 6

Apply the card to your order.

  • 7

Once entered, the value of your gift card will automatically be deducted from your total order amount.

Paying the remaining balance with another payment method

If your gift card doesn’t cover the full amount, you can easily pay the remaining balance with accepted payment method, such as a debit card.

Your gift card will always be applied first, and the remaining amount (if any) will be charged to your other payment method.

What to do if your gift card isn’t accepted

If your gift card is not working during checkout, try these quick checks:

  • Make sure the 19-digit card number is entered correctly.
  • Confirm the PIN is correct.
  • Check that no spaces have been added accidentally.
  • Verify that the card has been activated.

If the issue continues, contacting customer support is the best next step.

How to use your Asda gift card in store

Using an Asda gift card in store is quick and hassle-free, working just like a debit or credit card at the checkout. You can pay with both Asda gift cards and digital e-gift cards, simply by scanning or handing it to a colleague. If the total spend is lower than the balance on your gift card, the remaining credit stays on your card for future use.

Using a physical gift card in store

  1. Show your gift card at checkout.
  2. The colleague will scan the card or enter the number.
  3. The value will be deducted from your total purchase.

Using a digital gift card from your phone

  1. Open the e-gift card email on your phone.
  2. Show the barcode or gift card code to the cashier.
  3. The cashier will scan or enter the code and the value will be deducted from your bill.

Checking your remaining balance after purchase

After using your gift card, you’ll be able to see the remaining balance printed on your receipt. You can also check it anytime using our online balance checker – this is often the quickest way to find out how much you have left to spend on your gift card.

Using an Asda e-gift card

An Asda e-gift card is a digital version of a physical gift card – the key difference is that it comes by email and lives on your phone. The way you use it is exactly the same.

You can use it when shopping online (by typing the gift card number into the gift card box at checkout), or you can use it in store by showing the code or barcode.

Digital and physical gift cards are both accepted in store and online.

Where to find your e-gift card number and PIN

Your card number and PIN for your e-gift card are included in the confirmation email that was sent when the e-gift card was bought. The email will tell you:

  • The 19-digit gift card number.
  • The PIN.
  • A barcode or reference code.

Important things to know before you spend your gift card

Using more than one gift card

You can use multiple gift cards in a single purchase. For example, if your shopping comes to £60, you can use a £50 gift card and a £20 gift card, and you’ll still have £10 left on whichever one you used last.

Using gift cards with offers or discounts

You can use gift cards with offers and discounts in the same way you can use cash or card with offers and discounts. The promotion (such as 2 for £5 or our iconic Rollback reductions) gets applied first, and the gift card is then used to pay the balance.

Expiry dates and terms

Asda gift cards are active for two years following their last transaction – this could be spending on the card or just checking your balance. So, as long as you use your card within 48 months of its last use, it’ll stay active.
